Also, here is an update on the status of the season by the SFGSL Commissioner.
To all League Members,
Is this a crazy year or what? We will have 5 weeks in a row of rained out
games!
On behalf of the entire SFGSL board, I would like you all to know that we
have been working very hard to serve you, even while the rain continues to
come down.
I would like to take this time to address the schedule with you and let
you
know where we stand. We have had, anticipating this weekends games will
be
rained out too, over 160 games rained out. As of the last schedule
update,
we have only 19 slots available to fill approximately 70 games that have
not
been rescheduled. As you can see, this is not a viable ratio.
We have taken opinions and heard suggestions. Some good, some crazy, some
in the box, and some out of the box. We appreciate everyone's feedback on
this subject.
With that, the board has come to a decision to throw out the original
season
schedule and completely redo the 2006 SFGSL Season Schedule! We have
shortened the season to a 12 game schedule and will lengthen the season by
a
couple of Sundays in June. Ironically, this twist of fate has the league
finishing the regular season on Sunday June 18, 2006, which is Father's
Day...the day we traditionally have finished our playoffs and had closing
ceremonies.
We had lots of feedback and discussion around this and feel this is the
best
scenario for the league as a whole. We will use the usual rain out
methods for this weekends games. We will distribute the new schedule
by April 5. This schedule will begin on April 9.
Prior to this anomoly, we had called a special league meeting based on
some
important issues that we feel need to be discussed with the league
members.( The playoffs and closing ceremonies format as well as a new
model for NAGAAA and host hotels at the World Series)It seems
appropriate that we will add rain/schedule etc. to the agenda too.
THE SPECIAL SESSION LEAGUE MEETING IS ON SATURDAY APRIL 22 AT 1PM AT THE
EUREKA VALLEY REC CENTER.
For those that have been around a few years, this is where we used to meet
prior to MHR. For those new and/or forgetful souls, it is on Collingwood
between 18th and 19th , in The Castro.
Thanks to all of you for your patience and understanding during this wacky
weather time! It has been trying at times, especially for Curtis trying
to
reschedule all those missed games. I especially want to say thanks to all
of you who have sent your encouraging words our way. I am personally
overwhelmed with your kindness.
Your faithful commissioner,
Kathi Knapp
